This year’s tour to Manchester is sanctioned by the club, and the board will most probably decide on putting in some money to sponsor part of it.
So as we are sure you understand, this will be a tour to remember. The now Oldboys, who visited Manchester and the club Sedgley park RUFC in the 70's as young lads, surely remember that Nisse was 18 years old, and had just gotten his drivers license.
He had a fine Audi that he took on the ferry to England, and started his driving career by driving on the wrong side of the road. Nisse still maintains the opinion that the reason he crashed the car was because of a snow storm. In England. Well, make sure to ask him about it on the tour.
Other things to remember from prior tours to Manchester is the game in the rain, a legendary game where all players looked like clay monsters, and there was only water enough to fill one bath tub (no showers). When the last man left the tub, the water was not only cold but black of all the mud and other things.
Sleeping quarters was not that important in those days, so for the first tour they stayed at friends and relatives of Paul Howard, the bar master of SPARTACUS at the time. Paul is helping us to organize this tour too, so make sure to say hello and thank him with a beer when you see him.
SPARTACUS have also stayed at the local pub ‘The Eagle & Child’, and they are probably still barred from entering that establishment again.
This Tour promises to be something spectacular, and as time goes, we are adding more activities to the schedule, but here is what we know so far:
